SpinChill can chill a beverage 20 times faster. For a can of soda or beer, that's 30-60 seconds, using only ice and SpinChill.
What inspired you to get into the business you are in today?
We were at a hackathon in Atlanta, GA and were brainstorming ideas. We couldn't come up with much of anything that interested us, but we did have a case of warm beer. To chill them down we initially threw them in a bucket of ice water, but they were taking too long to cool down. We decided to start spinning them, both having mechanical engineering backgrounds, we understood why it worked so well. The next day we created the first prototype, showed it to people, they wanted to buy it.
How do you define success for yourself and for your business?
Success for us would be to continue to grow SpinChill, get into some major box retailers and expand the product line and brand to encompass fishing, boating, golfing, tailgating, and barbques. When we see SpinChill products at events that are in other states and countries we'll have a success that we can continue to grow.
How would you use the FedEx SMB Grant money to make a significant impact on your business and/or on others?
We would use the grant in order to continue developing SpinChill products. Part of it would be used to R&D to further develop SpinChill for a commercial application that would save bars and restaurants a lot of energy. Some of the money would also be put towards retail displays and packaging to help further advance the product image to the consumers.
