As an e-commerce site for greenhouses, we offer growers the opportunity save time, save money and streamline their business.
What inspired you to get into the business you are in today?
I was born into the horticulture industry and from the days of helping my Dad in the greenhouse until now, I have experience every step along the process in getting plants to market. I recognized an opportunity to improve current distribution methods and was inspired to create ePlantSource to answer this need. By offering customers a more streamlined way of doing business we will not only add efficiencies to their operations but to the industry as a whole all along the supply chain.
How do you define success for yourself and for your business?
I take great pride in providing products and services that improve my customer’s way of doing business. I define success as going beyond just getting the job done but in finding the best way of doing that job. Continually reviewing processes and systems to ensure they answer to your business’ needs is critical to success. I will consider ePlantSource a success when it has sharpened the supply chain for plant distribution and that it has made doing business more efficient for the industry.
How would you use the FedEx SMB Grant money to make a significant impact on your business and/or on others?
Our most important programming initiative right now is to add more transparency to freight costs for our customers. Freight of live goods is a large input cost for our customers and a cost that is often handled very differently from supplier to supplier, making it difficult for our customers to manage. This grant would assist us in tackling this issue to provide our customers with an opportunity to better manage their transportation costs and improve their bottom line.
