Buttercream snobbery and geekery for the discriminating palate. Custom cakes, confections, and organic cotton candy with attitude.
20 years ago, I gave up my culinary dreams to marry a smoking hot Marine. After two decades and five kids, my husband's disability landed him in the hospital and I went back to baking to pay the bills. The business began as a joke, heavy on the snark, and exploded into a brand. Cakes range from elegant to FX-laden geekery. The best parts are under the fondant; blood orange, passion fruit, sass, tonka bean, and always real butter. Always. Natural key lime cotton candy? We have that too.
The pastry shop was built on a teeny tiny budget. My husband and I turned a hearing aid office into a modern luxe palace of pink and gold with our bare hands, clearance items, and personally refinished Goodwill furniture. It took almost a year and a cocktail of sweat, tears, and rosé to finally get the doors open. It took everything we had. The grant would help us go from SP to LLC, upgrade to commercial equipment, and do some serious marketing.
