Elevator Pitch:

Connecting women artisans of India who handcraft beautiful tea ware to wider audiences so that they can continue their traditional craft.

Tell us about your business, what inspired you to get into it, what you sell/service you offer, what makes your business stand out and how it impacts you, your community or the environment.

Terra Klay, a social enterprise, introduces handcrafted black clay teaware from the mountainous regions of India to contemporary life styles of America, supporting a traditional craft done by women tribal artisans who dream to be entrepreneurs and be a change in their community with limited resources. Simple pottery that are made with love and dedication bringing a culture for all to enjoy. Businesses can make a difference and bring change. Change for respect, equality and right to make choices.

How would you use the FedEx Small Business Grant money to make a significant impact on your business?

I would use $10,000 to place an order for inventory as following principles of fair trade, I would pay in advance so that they can source materials and not take bank loans and give the artisans continued work. Around $7,000 -$8,000 would be spent in designing and manufacturing proper packaging material for the pottery so that it tells our story as well as avoids breakage during shipment. The rest I would use to print marketing material and advertise on social media - to bring product awareness
