  1. What steps do I need to take to apply for a small business grant?
    To apply for a small business grant you will need to create a contest profile to represent your business. Your contest profile will require you to upload three images that represent your business, as well as an image of your business logo. Additionally, you will have to answer four short answer questions that help FedEx and Facebook users get to know you and your business and why you should receive a grant.

    February 9, 2014, but registering earlier will increase your available time to get votes and increase your chances of being selected as one of 100 finalists.

  5. How do I know if I have been approved to participate in the grant contest?
    FedEx will review each entry to ensure that the submission is valid and contains appropriate content before approving them to appear in the contest website. You should expect an email notice confirming your acceptance or rejection from the contest within two business days of submitting. This email message will contain the URL for your contest profile.
  6. How many finalists will there be?
    One $25,000 grand prize winner; four $5,000 first place finalists; five $1,000 second place finalists.
  7. How are the 100 finalists selected?
    FedEx will announce 100 finalists on February 26, 2014. FedEx will select finalists based on their contest profile and the number of votes they received. Being one of the top voted businesses is important, but is not the sole factor in determining the contest finalists.
  8. How are the winners selected?
    FedEx will announce the winners on March 24, 2014. The top 100 will be notified via email and asked to provide a second-round submission due March 12, 2014. FedEx will select grant finalists based on their contest profile, their second-round submission, and the number of votes they received. Being one of the top voted businesses is important, but is not the sole factor in determining the contest winners.
  9. When and how will I be notified if I win?
    During March 2014, FedEx will contact you via phone or email based on the contact information you provided during registration. FedEx will only directly contact contest winners. Winners will be published on on March 24, 2014.
  10. If I am an online store or a non-profit, can I still participate?
    Absolutely. Small businesses that operate primarily online and small non-profits are important customers to FedEx and ideal candidates for this contest.
  11. What is required to be considered a “small” business for purposes of the contest?
    Please refer to the contest terms and conditions located at to determine eligibility. In general, a small business is considered to have less than 100 employees.
  12. Do I have to be a member of Facebook to participate?
    To register for the competition you do not need to be a Facebook user; however, this may limit your ability to promote your small business profile on Facebook to obtain votes from Facebook users. You must have a Facebook account in order to vote for a small business contestant.
  13. Do I have to be a FedEx customer to register for a small business grant or vote in the contest?

    Yes! You should vote for yourself every day and encourage your Facebook fans to vote as well.
  15. How many times can I vote?
    You and your Facebook fans can each vote on one small business contestant per day between January 16 and February 23, 2014. It is important to encourage your fans to vote each day to increase your chances of being selected as one of 100 finalists.
  16. How long does the voting period last?
    Voting begins January 16 and ends on February 23, 2014.
  17. Will the contest finalists be publicized and if so, how?
    FedEx will announce the finalists via a press release and on in March of 2014.
  18. How can I get votes?
    There are many ways you can get votes. The easiest way to get votes is to leverage your existing fan base on Facebook and telling your customers about your entry in the contest during other interactions such as an email. Please reference your confirmation email for additional suggestions for getting votes.
